About The Role

The Lead Software QA / Test Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through comprehensive testing strategies. This position involves leading testing efforts across multiple projects, developing detailed test plans, executing test cases, and automating testing processes to identify and resolve software defects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in software testing, a strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), and the ability to lead and mentor testing teams. This role requires close collaboration with software engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure that all technical and operational requirements are met with the highest quality standards. The position is a 6-month contract based in Baltimore, Maryland, with the flexibility of 100% remote work, offering a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience (additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in software design, development, testing, and requirements management
• Solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Experience with hardware/software/database technologies and network systems
• Proven experience as a software developer
• Proficiency with databases and query languages
• Strong knowledge of software test protocols and requirements
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments with changing priorities
• Experience with Microsoft Office products or equivalent tools

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a team of testers supporting multiple projects and initiatives, ensuring adherence to testing standards and best practices
• Analyze complex requirements, operational problems, specifications, and change requests to develop effective test strategies
• Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to identify potential software defects and their scope
• Monitor and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of test cases, scripts, and data with predefined expected results
• Perform and oversee test execution activities across assigned test cases, documenting results meticulously
• Research and troubleshoot operational and system defects, providing technical support and proposing actionable solutions
• Lead defect management meetings, triage issues, and coordinate with development teams to prioritize and resolve defects

• Act as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders to analyze complex testing scenarios and recommend solutions
• Communicate testing status, risks, and issues effectively to management and project stakeholders

• Mentor and guide team members, including contractors and third-party resources, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement
