The Position
Working across Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School and Xavier Catholic College on the Tiwi Islands, the School Business Manager provides strategic and operational insights for all the business and non-teaching functions of the schools to ensure our schools achieve their education objectives and are sustainable.
The School Business Manager supports the Principals in the delivery of a range of corporate duties, including but not limited to administration, human resources, facilities, marketing, contacts, legal compliance, WHS, IT and supervision of trading activities.
This is a full-time permanent position, commencing as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- School Administration: Managing administrative systems in schools including but not limited to the enrolment process, reporting on various matters to CEO such as census, annual reports, surveys, support with the Advisory School Board etc. and assisting Principals as needed.
- Human Resources: Managing school administration staff, overseeing payroll, and end to end recruitment including HR Tech1 Onboarding, employment contracts and management of general HR administration.
- Facilities and ICT: Overseeing the management of school's facilities, grounds, and information technology resources.
- Finance: Assisting the Finance Manager in the development of budget and cashflow strategies. Application of financial delegations as directed by the Principal. Management of funding applications.
- Procurement and contract management: Overseeing the ordering of goods and services, managing suppliers, and overseeing contractor relationships as well as managing contracts.
- Compliance and Governance: Managing the organisational approach to risk management, compliance and occupational work health and safety to ensure the organisation is compliant. Ensuring compliance with legislation, departmental policies, and funding requirements, and providing governance reporting.
- Strategic Planning: Contributing to the school's strategic planning, developing financial strategies, and implementing business plans.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaising with departmental officers, community representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure effective corporate services.
- Additional duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Principal or the Catholic Education Office

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- CPA or CA Qualifications or equivalent tertiary degree.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- 5 years of Business Manager experience or equivalent high-level corporate services experience.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Collaborative, people-focused approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (experience with CIA or similar systems an advantage)
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and a commitment to service excellence
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, motivate staff, and effectively manage multiple complex areas.
- Capacity to contribute to the school's strategic vision and develop financial strategies for long-term sustainability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with the staff, parents, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to the values and ethos of Catholic education and child safeguarding.
- NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) or willing to obtain.

- Annual salary of $140,000 plus superannuation
- Working hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 37 hours per week
