Network Engineer – HFT (Sydney | Weekend Shift)

Our client, a leading high-frequency trading firm, is hiring a Network Engineer to support and enhance its ultra-low-latency trading network.

This role is primarily weekend shift-focused — you must be willing and able to work weekend shifts as part of your core schedule.

You’ll be hands-on in a high-performance environment, working closely with traders and engineers where uptime, speed, and execution matter.

What you’ll be doing:

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues across a global environment
• Supporting low-latency infrastructure across data centres
• Working with switching, routing (BGP), and multicast (IGMP, PIM)
• Communicating clearly during high-impact incidents
• Using SSH regularly to access systems, investigate issues, and validate changes
• Improving automation and operational efficiency through scripting/coding

What they’re looking for:

• 5+ years’ hands-on networking experience
• Advanced knowledge of switching, routing (BGP), and multicast (IGMP, PIM)
• Basic knowledge of Linux administration and scripting (SSH is a must)
• Ability to code/automate (Python preferred)
• CCNP or equivalent
• Calm under pressure, autonomous, and accountable
