Senior Systems Engineer (Rust) - Search Infrastructure

I’m working with an early-stage team building a modern search platform and hiring a senior IC focused on search infrastructure and distributed systems.

This role is for engineers who want to work on search as a system: indexes, query execution, scaling, and performance.

The work:

• Full-text + inverted index search systems
• Vector / hybrid search infrastructure

• Distributed search systems and performance bottlenecks at scale
• Building core components in Rust (core codebase is Rust)

Strong fit if you’ve done work like

• Search infrastructure, query execution, indexing pipelines
• Distributed systems where latency + throughput matter
• Systems work where correctness and performance are first-class constraints

Senior-level preferred; exceptional ICs with deep experience or research credibility are encouraged.

Logistics

• San Francisco — 5 days/week on-site (required)
• Relocation + visa sponsorship available
