OVERVIEW

BrainWorks is currently seeking a Vice President of Information Technology for a full-time position supporting a national commercial services franchise organization in a multi-site, PE-backed environment. This executive will serve as a hands-on, player–coach technology leader responsible for rebuilding and modernizing the entire technology function—architecture, systems, cybersecurity, data, CRM, franchise technology, and vendor oversight. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will design and implement the technology roadmap that prepares the organization for scalability, operational excellence, franchise enablement, and long-term private equity value creation. This is a high-impact transformational role requiring deep experience with multi-location operations, Microsoft ecosystem modernization, CRM evaluation, data architecture alignment, outsourced IT vendor leadership, and the ability to restore credibility with a distributed franchise network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy supporting multi-site scalability, operational efficiency, and private equity value creation.
  • Define, structure, and manage the technology fee model and annual IT budget.
  • Serve as the primary technology advisor to the CEO and executive team.
  • Establish IT governance, standards, and security frameworks across a distributed franchise ecosystem.
  • Lead the modernization of the Microsoft environment, including SharePoint rollout, domain restructuring, identity management, and secure workspace architecture.
  • Oversee enterprise security, risk management, disaster recovery, and compliance posture.
  • Drive modernization of networks, cloud services, hardware, software, and operational systems.
  • Architect systems supporting a parent–child franchise domain structure and multi-location operational workflows.
  • Build strong relationships with franchisees; gather requirements through site visits and ensure tech solutions support real-world workflows.
  • Restore franchisee trust in IT through improved reliability, responsiveness, and strategic engagement.
  • Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of a new enterprise CRM solution.
  • Partner closely with Marketing on website modernization, martech integrations, and improved lead lifecycle management.
  • Strengthen SEO, domain health, subdomain structure, and digital infrastructure.
  • Design a unified data architecture across billing, franchise development, operational systems, and marketing systems.
  • Correct conflicting definitions and data structures across the enterprise.
  • Enhance reporting, analytics, and visibility for leadership and franchisees.
  • Lead oversight, direction, and performance management of outsourced IT providers.
  • Evaluate long-term support models (MSP vs. hybrid vs. internal staff).
  • Manage enterprise-wide technology initiatives with clear milestones and successful execution.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership, with experience at the VP or Senior Director level.
  • Proven success supporting multi-location, franchise, or distributed organizations.
  • Deep expertise with the Microsoft ecosystem, including SharePoint, Azure, identity management, and domain architecture.
  • Strong experience with CRM evaluation and enterprise implementation.
  • Expertise in data architecture, integrations, and multi-system alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to restore credibility and lead change in an underdeveloped IT environment.
  • Experience overseeing MSPs and holding outsourced partners accountable.
  • Strong cybersecurity, risk management, and IT governance background.
  • Hands-on, operational leadership style—comfortable being both strategic and tactical.
  • Exceptional communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Background supporting private equity transformations or preparing companies for PE exit.

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • Experience in commercial services or facilities services
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, ITIL, Microsoft cloud certifications).
  • Experience integrating marketing systems, websites, and franchise digital ecosystems.
  • Previous leadership during a period of organizational rebuilding or modernization.
