At Distiller we’re not here to reinvent nearshore software development, we’re on a mission to perfect it. Distillery is committed to diversity and inclusion. We actively seek to cultivate a workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences present in our society. Our recruitment efforts are dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other dimension of diversity.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to ensure outstanding product quality across our platform as it scales. In this role, you will take ownership of quality engineering practices, combining manual and automated testing to validate web applications, APIs, and data workflows. You will work closely with product, engineering, and design teams in a collaborative, high-agency environment, helping shape requirements, improve testability, and ensure high-quality releases from MVP through enterprise-level maturity.

Responsibilities

  • Outstanding Product Quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Design) to understand requirements, provide input on testability, and align QA efforts with product goals.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain manual and automated test plans to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Participate actively in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to drive alignment and continuous improvement.
  • Perform holistic testing, gaining a deep and broad understanding of the product to proactively identify risks, issues, and improvement areas.
  • Identify, document, track, and validate software defects using industry-standard bug tracking tools.
  • Assuring Quality at Scale
  • Identify potential risks associated with new releases and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the QA team and across functions.
  • Drive the adoption of test automation best practices and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Establish and maintain Quality Engineering processes, standards, and metrics to measure and report on product quality across the portfolio.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Test Engineering, including both manual and automated testing of web UIs, APIs, and databases.
  • Proven expertise in designing and executing test plans, test cases, and integrating automated testing solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript for test automation.
  • Hands-on experience with modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright and WebdriverIO.
  • Solid experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Proficiency in repository management best practices using Azure DevOps or similar platforms.
  • Experience testing products at all stages of maturity, from MVP to enterprise-scale systems.
  • Strong understanding of build and release management best practices.
  • Ability to work with high autonomy and self-direction, while being a strong partner to product, engineering, and design teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with an internal and external client-focused mindset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to Have

  • Contributions to open source projects or active involvement in tech communities.
  • Experience defining or evolving quality metrics and reporting frameworks at scale.
  • Background in mentoring or guiding other QA engineers.
