About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Ledgering team within the Financial Platform organization. This role is pivotal in developing and maintaining the core ledger infrastructure that powers Cash App, one of our flagship products. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling systems capable of processing millions of transactions daily with impeccable accuracy. As a key contributor, you will drive strategic technical initiatives, lead complex projects spanning multiple quarters, and influence the technical direction of our ledgering infrastructure. You will operate in a dynamic, globally distributed environment, collaborating with engineers across the United States, Australia, and Europe. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of financial ledgering, ensuring robustness, scalability, and reliability in our critical systems.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, particularly in complex systems
  • Proven track record of leading strategic or high-impact technical initiatives
  • Strong leadership skills with a people-first approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills within engineering teams
  • Experience working in distributed, global teams
  • Deep understanding of scalable system architecture and transaction processing
  • Familiarity with Java, Kotlin, MySQL, Vitess, AWS, Kafka, and related technologies
  • Curiosity-driven mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to mentor, influence, and guide engineering best practices
