Azure Cloud Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and support cloud solutions built on Microsoft Azure. This role focuses on cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and operational excellence across enterprise environments. This is a fully remote 6-month contract to hire position.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Deployment
- Design and deploy scalable Azure infrastructure solutions, including virtual networks, VNets, subnets, load balancers, and VN gateways.
- Build and manage Azure compute resources such as VMs, VMSS, App Services, and container environments (AKS).
- Implement identity and access management using Azure Active Directory and RBAC.
- Experience with VMware - AVS/AVP
Automation & Infrastructure as Code
- Develop IaC templates using ARM/Bicep/Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration of cloud resources.
- Create automated workflows in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or PowerShell to streamline deployments.
Operations & Monitoring
- Manage ongoing operations including backups, patching, updates, and performance optimization.
- Implement monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud, network, and security issues across distributed environments.
Security & Compliance
- Apply security best practices such as network segmentation, NSGs, firewalls, and encryption.
- Integrate cloud workloads with Azure Security Center, Defender for Cloud, and Azure Policies.
- Support compliance initiatives (ISO, SOC, HIPAA, etc.) by implementing required controls.
Networking & Connectivity
- Configure hybrid connectivity including VPN, ExpressRoute, peering, and private endpoints.
- Support DNS, load balancing, traffic management, and advanced routing.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Partner with development, networking, and security teams to deliver reliable cloud services.
- Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.
- Provide Tier 2/3 cloud support and participate in on-call duties when needed.
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of hands-on experience with cloud technologies.
- Strong proficiency in Azure infrastructure—compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
- Experience with IaC (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) and automation (PowerShell, Python).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls).
- Experience with Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
