QA Tester

We’re looking for a highly skilled QA Tester to support complex application development and modernization initiatives across government environments. You’ll work across Java, JavaScript, DB2, PostgreSQL, and cloud modernization efforts—applying deep QA expertise to validate functionality, performance, data integrity, and user experience. 💡 What You’ll Do
You will lead QA efforts across manual and automated testing, STLC management, cloud migration validation, and sprint-aligned workflows—ensuring every release meets the highest standards of quality and public-sector compliance.
🧪 QA Testing & Test Planning
- Develop and execute manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scenarios
- Manage the full Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)—requirements analysis to test cycle closure
- Translate user stories and business requirements into actionable test scenarios
⚙️ Testing Execution Across Multiple Tech Stacks
- Perform functional, regression, integration, performance, usability, and UAT testing
- Test applications built in Java, JavaScript, DB2, and PostgreSQL
- Validate on-prem to cloud migration efforts for functionality, data integrity, and performance
🐞 Defect Tracking & Quality Assurance
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using industry-standard tools
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and PMs to resolve issues
- Review UI/UX for consistency and end-user experience
📊 Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track QA metrics and generate progress reports
- Participate in sprint planning, story pointing, and daily stand-ups
- Provide feedback on QA strategy, automation, and process improvements
🏛️ Public Sector Standards & Compliance
- Ensure QA activities align with federal quality frameworks and public-sector requirements
- Participate in modernization initiatives with a focus on reliability, compliance, and traceability
🧭 What You Bring
🎓 Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years of on-the-job experience
- 4+ years of cloud-focused QA testing experience
- Public Trust or higher clearance required
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to work remotely with occasional onsite work in Washington, DC
- Must be able to work Eastern Time Zone hours
🔧 Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on QA testing experience across Java, JavaScript, DB2, PostgreSQL
- Proven ability to create and execute test plans, test cases, and automation scripts
- Experience testing cloud migration and modernization initiatives
- Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, Selenium, and equivalent frameworks
- Experience with Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence)
- Proven ability to coordinate across distributed teams and parallel workstreams

🏅 Certifications

- Active Clearance beyond Public Trust (DOJ preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated frameworks
- Familiarity with LoadRunner, JMeter, or other performance testing tools
- AWS cloud certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, etc.)
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP testing practices
- Exposure to NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP compliance standards
- Experience mentoring junior QA talent
