Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a VP, Engineering in the United States.
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and scale a high-performing engineering organization in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will be responsible for mentoring and growing engineering teams across multiple disciplines, implementing scalable processes, and driving technical excellence. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, partnering closely with product and executive leadership to translate business goals into reliable, high-quality software delivery. Ideal candidates are experienced in scaling teams, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture, and building engineering practices that support rapid product innovation and operational excellence.
Accountabilities:
- Lead, mentor, and grow the engineering organization across backend, frontend, mobile, DevOps, and QA teams
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent while fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Partner with Product leadership to translate roadmaps into actionable engineering deliverables and manage sprint planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines
- Establish and enforce engineering standards including code quality, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation practices
- Oversee infrastructure, cloud optimization, system reliability, and performance to meet SLA commitments
- Implement metrics, KPIs, and best practices to measure productivity, quality, and velocity across teams
- Collaborate on technical strategy, evaluate new technologies, and make build vs. buy decisions
- 10+ years in software engineering with 4+ years in leadership roles (Director or VP level)
- Proven experience scaling engineering teams from small to large organizations (5-50+ engineers)
- Demonstrated ability to manage managers and design organizational structures
- Strong background in modern web app development and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Track record of delivering complex SaaS products in startup or high-growth environments
- Experience implementing engineering processes, standards, and best practices
- Effective remote work experience and strong problem-solving skills
- Preferred: Experience at Series A/B SaaS companies during hypergrowth, hands-on technical expertise, familiarity with modern tech stacks (React, Node.js, Python, Go, microservices), and distributed or remote-first teams
