As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable data systems that empower business teams to make data-driven decisions. You will take ownership of ETL pipelines, data quality, and warehouse architecture while working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams. This role offers the opportunity to shape the foundation of a data function in a fast-growing, dynamic environment, contributing to both operational efficiency and strategic analytics capabilities. You will also help define best practices and mentor future team members as the data function expands. The position allows for fully remote work, with collaboration across international time zones.

Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines and data infrastructure to support reporting, analytics, and operational needs
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and reliability for teams relying on data for critical decisions
  • Stabilize and optimize existing PostgreSQL pipelines supporting billing, revenue reconciliation, and other finance operations
  • Design and implement modern data warehouse architecture to improve analytics and self-service reporting capabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable data solutions
  • Contribute to the data strategy roadmap, identifying pain points and independently driving infrastructure improvements
  • Establish data engineering best practices, including documentation, monitoring, and testing standards for future team growth

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience, with proven ability to build high-quality data systems
  • Expert-level SQL skills and deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, including database design, optimization, and large dataset handling
  • Experience building and maintaining high-throughput production data pipelines with a focus on data quality
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose complex pipeline issues while planning for scalable infrastructure
  • Experience in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, taking initiative and ownership
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment, able to work asynchronously across time zones
  • Capable of making build vs buy decisions for infrastructure and evaluating potential solutions

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Elixir or similar programming languages
  • Previous experience as the first data hire or building data functions from scratch
  • Background in high-throughput systems or ad tech platforms

Benefits

  • 🌍 Fully remote employment within Pacific to Central Europe time zones
  • 🌴 Flexible PTO and unlimited sick days
  • 💙 Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
  • 💰 Company-matched retirement savings
  • 🛡 Life, short-term, and long-term disability coverage
  • 💻 $500 home office stipend for workspace setup
  • 📈 Stock options and equity opportunities
  • 👶 Parental leave: 6 weeks at full pay, with additional 6 weeks for primary caregivers
  • ✨ Annual company offsite for team collaboration and connection
  • 🌞 Summer Fridays: flexible early weekend hours during summer months
