The Role
They're looking for a DevOps/SRE to transform their multi-account AWS environment into an automated Infrastructure-as-Code solution. This is a hands-on, implementation-focused role where you'll have real ownership and the autonomy to drive strategy.
You'll be responsible for:
- Transforming their scalable multi-account AWS environment into an automated IaC solution
- Driving automation, scalability, and reliability across their AWS-hosted PHP platforms
- Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
- Improving monitoring, alerting, and observability
- Streamlining deployment pipelines to help teams deliver software safely and efficiently
- Debugging performance issues and identifying improvements
- Optimising PHP server configurations to maximize performance
- Moving their infrastructure toward IaC with greater automation
Each of their customer platforms runs as an independent PHP application on its own AWS account, giving you the opportunity to create reusable, scalable solutions across multiple environments.
What They're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong AWS experience in production environments
- Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform, Docker, or similar—they're flexible on tools)
- Proven experience writing code and building solutions from scratch
- Redeployable infrastructure experience
- Troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance mindset
- Customer experience focus—you understand that infrastructure impacts users
- Implementation skills with the ability to take ownership and deliver
Nice to Have:
- PHP knowledge (their core platform is PHP-based)
Who This Role Suits
This could be perfect if you've been part of a team and want more autonomy, or if you simply want to shape a role and make it your own. They're looking for someone who wants to drive real change and build something scalable, not just maintain what's already there.
