You will serve as a technical leader, delivering innovative, scalable, and reliable applications that support manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product development processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to influence the future of industrial systems through AI/ML-driven insights and platform architecture. While primarily a technical role, it involves mentorship and collaboration across cross-functional teams, contributing to a high-performance engineering culture focused on security, scalability, and operational excellence. The role can be remote, with a preference for candidates willing to work onsite in Dearborn, MI, four days a week, with relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or data platform development, with a focus on large-scale systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools including GitHub Actions, GCP Cloud Build, Terraform, SonarQube, etc.
  • Deep understanding of Cloud Architecture, preferably GCP, including microservices, REST APIs, and serverless platforms like Cloud Run and Cloud Functions.
  • At least 5 years of experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-team technical initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of software design principles, performance tuning, reliability engineering, and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture standards and integration with enterprise data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of critical features for the Industrial System Analytics (ISA) platform, ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Write production-grade code, perform system integration, and contribute to codebases to support team objectives.
  • Drive performance optimization, reliability engineering, and capacity planning efforts to ensure robust platform operation.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical design sessions, and informal leadership to foster technical excellence.
  • Lead experimentation and prototyping for emerging technologies, including AI/ML applications such as large language models for code generation.
  • Translate non-functional requirements into scalable and secure solutions, validating new technologies before adoption.
  • Design and develop core platform components, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise data systems and IT source systems.
  • Leverage GCP-native services to enhance security, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish high standards for operational excellence, including security, reliability, and maintainability of applications.
  • Identify and address technical debt, prioritizing modernization efforts to improve developer productivity and platform maturity.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, data scientists, product managers, security teams, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with organizational goals.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable engineering plans and documentation.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible family care options, parental leave, and ramp-up programs for new parents.
  • Subsidized backup childcare and family support services.
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and their families, along with management lease options.
  • Tuition assistance to support ongoing professional development.
  • Active employee resource groups fostering diversity and inclusion.
  • Paid time off for community service activities and holidays, including a generous holiday schedule.
  • Paid vacation time with options to purchase additional leave.
  • Opportunities for career growth, leadership development, and global mobility.
