Physics Labeling Expert – India

Hourly Contract | Remote | $20 –$30 per hour

1. Role Overview

Mercor is partnering with a leading artificial intelligence research lab to engage exceptional professionals in physics and engineering disciplines for a high-impact AI training and evaluation project.

We are seeking PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and outstanding Master’s graduates in Physics, Applied Physics, or Engineering to help evaluate and enhance the scientific accuracy and conceptual rigor of large language models (LLMs).

You’ll apply your deep technical expertise to review AI-generated content, identify reasoning flaws, and contribute to improving how AI systems understand complex physical and mathematical concepts.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine research-level physics knowledge with cutting-edge AI innovation—while working remotely and flexibly.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the scientific accuracy, depth, and conceptual rigor of AI-generated outputs across physics and applied engineering topics.
  • Review solutions involving mathematical modeling, experimental design, and theoretical analysis.
  • Identify and document reasoning flaws, factual inaccuracies, and conceptual errors.
  • Benchmark model performance across problem sets spanning classical and modern physics.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI research teams using proprietary tools and workflows.

4. Requirements

  • PhD or current PhD candidate in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Alternatively, Master’s graduates with strong research or teaching experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent command of graduate-level physics concepts and mathematical reasoning.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and asynchronously in a remote environment.

5. Role Details

  • Type: Part-time (≈20 hours per week).
  • Location: Fully remote — based in India.
  • Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous to accommodate international collaboration.
  • Start Date: Immediate openings; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

6. Compensation & Terms

  • Hourly Rate: $20–$30 USD/hour (based on expertise and domain depth).
  • Classification: Independent Contractor (via Mercor).
  • Payments: Weekly via Stripe Connect for completed hours.
  • Structure: Performance-based engagement with potential for continued collaboration.
