About the Role
We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join a fast-paced and innovative engineering team. This position is ideal for a candidate with strong backend fundamentals, experience with cloud-native systems, and a drive to build scalable, reliable solutions in a complex technical environment.
You’ll design, implement, and optimize backend systems that support large-scale distributed applications, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across infrastructure, platform, and product.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services and APIs for large-scale production systems
- Architect and optimize distributed systems to improve performance and scalability
- Collaborate with product, DevOps, and data teams on full lifecycle development
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments
- Participate in architecture discussions and peer code reviews
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence
⭐️⭐️⭐️Must-Haves
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or another STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
- Willingness to work 5 days per week on-site in New York City
- Experience at a large tech company, followed by work at a high-caliber startup
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java or Go
- Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Exposure to large-scale data processing or event-driven architectures
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership experience in team projects or mentoring roles
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $200,000 – $210,000 base
- Equity: Included
