Position: Software Engineer - Navigation and Perception

Location: Abu Dhabi (Relocation Required)

Our client is a growing UAV/Robotics R&D group is expanding in Abu Dhabi is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join its cutting-edge team.

The role focuses on implementing and maintaining simulation capabilities for fixed-wing aircraft navigation, leveraging photorealistic COTS simulators integrated with ROS bridge support. If you're passionate about tackling complex challenges, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize VIO, VSLAM, and dense stereo reconstruction algorithms.
• Implement 2D/3D image processing, sensor fusion, and hardware/software integration for UAV state estimation.
• Work with Mono/Stereo cameras, IMUs, LiDARs, and depth cameras (e.g. Realsense, ZED, OAK-D).
• Optimize performance using CUDA, C++, and OpenCV on embedded systems like NVIDIA Jetson (Xavier/Orin/NX).
• Develop within ROS/ROS2, Docker, and CI environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (control, perception, integration) to deliver production-ready prototypes.

Skills & Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Computer Vision, Robotics, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Strong background in VIO/SLAM, C++, CUDA, OpenCV, and embedded systems.
• Experience with algorithm optimization for real-time or embedded applications.
• Proficient with ROS/ROS2, Git, Docker, and CI tools.
• Practical experience in autonomous systems or UAV platforms.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PX4, Deep Learning (TensorRT, PyTorch, TensorFlow), or simulation tools (Gazebo, AirSim).
• Publications in CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ICRA, or IROS.
• UAV piloting experience or hardware prototyping background.
