We’re supporting a global leader investing heavily in renewable energy innovation. You’ll join a startup-style AI engineering team inside a major organisation - giving you both the scale and impact of an enterprise and the autonomy of a smaller unit.

This role is designed for a senior backend engineer (Python, C++ or C#) who has moved into AI/ML. The ideal profile is someone with deep backend fundamentals, strong Python skills, and proven experience building production-ready AI systems (GenAI, LLMs, RAG).

• Build and scale backend systems, APIs, and ML pipelines powering real-world AI applications.
• Implement and optimise ML models: classification, regression, recommendation systems, NLP, LLMs.
• Design AI system architecture patterns and workflows (similar to large-scale data pipelines).
• Contribute to evaluation frameworks (acceptance testing, performance monitoring, production readiness).
• Deploy solutions in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) using Docker/Kubernetes.
• Apply modern MLOps practices (MLflow, SageMaker, Airflow) and CI/CD for productionisation.
• Collaborate on AI projects that accelerate renewable energy innovation globally.
• Mentor junior engineers/data scientists and drive technical design reviews.

• Backend first: Senior-level experience in Python (essential), with additional C++/C# skills valued.
• Applied AI: Hands-on experience with GenAI/LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph, and RAG pipelines.
• MLOps expertise: MLflow, SageMaker, Airflow, plus CI/CD and observability practices.
• Cloud & architecture: AWS/Azure and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience handling large datasets and distributed systems (Spark).
• Strong grounding in algorithms, optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Hybrid skill set (approx. 60% backend, 20% AI/ML, 20% data engineering).
• Ability to work independently, contribute architectural insight, and deliver production-grade AI.
