Job Title: Remote Software Application Engineer (100% Work From Home)
Location: Remote from Latin America
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (3-month contract with potential for full-time conversion)
Salary: $2,900 - 5,400 USD/month
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Time but flexible

Job Overview:
We are looking for a Software Application Engineer to help build and maintain the infrastructure that powers the company's platform. This is a remote role with a 3-month contract and the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on performance.
As a Software Application Engineer, you will work on backend infrastructure, software maintenance, debugging, device configuration, and feature development. You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering team to ensure smooth operations and high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend software infrastructure.
- Optimize and troubleshoot backend systems.
- Implement and refine solutions using a variety of Python libraries.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on software development.
- Suggest improvements to the product and infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot software failures and implement fixes.
Note: The hired candidate will be subject to a 1 month probationary period to ensure they are the right fit for the company and are capable of perform the tasks.
Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies:
Must Have:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 1+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- OR Master’s degree with 6+ months of industry experience.
- Ideally some computer vision/ML experience
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python (scripting, debugging, and development).
- Basic knowledge of Ubuntu, terminal usage, and Git.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Quick learner with adaptability to new tools and processes.
- Initiative-driven and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Other:
- Ability to work in California’s timezone (PST/MST overlap required).
- Ability to commit to a 3-month contract.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with DevOps, PyTorch, Computer Vision, SQL, and AWS.
