CAD Designer – Civil 3D / Solid Waste & Recycling Projects

A leading environmental design and engineering firm that’s expanding its Richmond, VA team. They are seeking a CAD Designer to assist in the planning and design of solid waste and recycling infrastructure projects.

This position offers an opportunity to work on environmentally significant projects while developing your technical skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D within a collaborative professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce civil site design drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Work closely with engineers on solid waste, landfill, and recycling facility projects.
• Assist in preparing plans, profiles, grading, and drainage layouts.
• Interpret and apply standard engineering techniques and drafting procedures.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver accurate, high-quality design documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 0–5 years of experience in CAD drafting/design for engineering or civil projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and understand civil plans and technical drawings.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to solid waste, landfill, or recycling design projects.
• Experience preparing grading, site development, or stormwater plans.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
