C++ Developer – Low-Latency Trading Systems

• Location: West Suburbs, IL (Hybrid – 1st month or two then remote, coming in periodically)
• Compensation: $300K–$400K annually + full benefits
• Must have trading experience

A leading proprietary trading firm in the West Suburbs of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled C++ Developer to join their elite engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to work on cutting-edge low-latency trading systems in a high-impact, high-reward environment.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and develop ultra-low-latency trading applications in modern C++ (C++14 or newer)
• Build and optimize market access systems, exchange connectivity, and order routing infrastructure
• Collaborate directly with traders, quants, and researchers to implement and refine algorithmic strategies
• Profile and tune systems for speed, throughput, and reliability
• Own the full software development lifecycle—from design to deployment and production support
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance performance and scalability

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or related STEM field
• Must come out of financial markets, trading systems, or derivatives (futures/options)
• 3+ years of experience building performance-critical systems in C++
• Deep understanding of multi-threading, memory management, and network/socket programming (TCP/UDP)
• Strong Linux/Unix skills and familiarity with tools like Wireshark and TCPDump
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset

Bonus Skills

• Experience with C# or Python
• Familiarity with exchange protocols (FIX, ITCH)
• Exposure to kernel-bypass or low-level networking
• Network/hardware/systems experience - Linux
