Job Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced RF Team Lead to join a leading defence technology organisation based in Stevenage. This hybrid position typically requires three days per week on-site due to project classification. The role offers a salary of around £75,000, a bonus of up to 21%, generous pension contributions, and excellent benefits. Relocation support may also be available for the right candidate.
The RF Team Lead will take ownership of a growing group of RF and Antenna Engineers, leading the design and delivery of advanced radio-frequency systems for high-performance defence applications. This position combines hands-on technical involvement with team leadership, providing an opportunity to influence both design outcomes and team development in a high-impact environment.
Applicants must be British Citizens and will be required to obtain UK security clearance due to the nature of the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of RF and Antenna Engineers, fostering collaboration and high performance
- Oversee the delivery of RF design work packages across 30 MHz – 30 GHz, from concept through validation
- Provide hands-on technical input in the design, simulation, and testing of RF components such as LNAs, HPAs, filters, oscillators, and modulators
- Work cross-functionally with systems, hardware, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration
- Manage project planning, resource allocation, and progress tracking using tools such as Excel, MS Project, or Primavera P6
- Ensure designs meet performance, environmental, and manufacturability standards
- Contribute to the growth and technical direction of the RF and Antenna capability
- Proven experience in RF design within defence, aerospace, or related high-reliability sectors
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams or complex technical work packages
- Strong knowledge of RF, analogue, and digital circuit design principle
- Proficiency with tools such as Microwave Office and HFSS
- Familiarity with design for manufacture and test methodologies
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
