Network Operations Center Technician

Job Title: NOC Technician – Remote

Location: 100% Remote (US-based)

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled NOC Technician to join our network operations team. This is a highly technical role focused on layer 2 switched Ethernet, MPLS, and TCP/IP network management for enterprise and wholesale customer accounts. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and restore network services, taking full technical ownership of issues from detection to resolution.

We are looking for candidates with a strong telecom background who are comfortable working remotely in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and troubleshoot Brightspeed’s transport network (Ethernet, MPLS, optical/DWDM, SONET, DLC).
• Manage and resolve trouble tickets using ServiceNow or proprietary platforms.
• Coordinate restoration efforts during outages with field teams, vendors, and technical support.
• Conduct remote testing, configuration, and network changes.
• Analyze network alarms and events using tools such as Netcool, SolarWinds, SNMP, CLI, and GUI-based platforms.
• Perform circuit testing, loopback verification, and signal tracing to isolate faults.
• Maintain detailed documentation for network failures, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Mentor junior technicians on troubleshooting and escalation procedures.

Required Technical Skills:

• Layer 2 switched Ethernet experience (primary focus)
• MPLS, TCP/IP, and basic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
• Telecom experience provisioning UNIs and EVCs for enterprise or wholesale customers
• Network diagnostics using SNMP, CLI, or GUI tools
• Familiarity with optical/DWDM systems is a plus but not required
• Ability to interpret network diagrams, circuit layouts, and technical manuals

Qualifications:

• Previous experience with telecom providers, enterprise networks, or wholesale network management
• Comfortable taking full technical ownership of issues, not just triage
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work 100% remotely with reliable internet and multiple monitors
