Job Description
Backend Engineer (Rust) :Infrastructure & Observability (NYC, Onsite)
Backed by top-tier investors | Profitable ($5–10M ARR) | Onsite NYC (5d/w)
Realm are supporting an incredible NYC-based AI infrastructure startup that’s already profitable and scaling fast. They’re building what’s effectively an AI Site Reliability Engineer, a system that can automatically detect, diagnose, and fix production issues for major enterprises. It’s the sort of deep-tech role you rarely see outside of FAANG or research labs, but with genuine startup pace and ownership.
The Role
We’re hiring a Backend Engineer (Rust) to join a small, world-class team focused on observability, reliability, and automated remediation. Expect hands-on work across Rust, Kubernetes, Kafka, Terraform, and AWS.
What You’ll Do
- Build high-performance Rust services for telemetry and observability
- Develop and scale Kubernetes/Kafka-based infrastructure
- Work closely with founders and engineers from Datadog, DE Shaw, and MIT
Ideal Profile
- 2–6+ years in backend or infrastructure engineering (Rust experience is ESSENTIAL)
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, and distributed systems
- Confident debugging production environments
- Comfortable working onsite in NYC (5d/w), relocation supported and able to sponsor H1B Visas
Why It’s Exciting
- $150k–$300k base + meaningful equity (not token options)
- Backed by top-tier investors; profitable from day one
- Incredible mentorship + technical culture (small, sharp, and humble)
If you want to work on real AI infrastructure (not toy LLM demos) this one’s worth a chat.
