Systems Engineer - Fully Remote UK & Ireland - Payments

Search 5.0 is representing a leading payments business that's seeking a Systems Engineer to lead and support the architecture, administration, and optimization of enterprise-wide infrastructure in a high-availability, 24/7 environment. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives under pressure, balances multiple priorities, and has the technical expertise to drive high-impact infrastructure initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient systems solutions that align with business goals.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support infrastructure solutions across compute, storage, cloud, and virtualization technologies.
• Ensure 24/7 availability, performance, and operational health of systems, aligned with internal SLA objectives.
• Lead lifecycle management, capacity planning, and incident resolution for enterprise infrastructure.
• Partner with Engineering, Architecture, and Security teams to align infrastructure initiatives with business needs.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and systems diagrams.

Key Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Windows/Linux/cloud environments with a commitment to uptime and reliability.
• Strong skills in Windows/Linux Server admin, Active Directory, Exchange, networking (LAN, VPN, Layer 2/3), and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Hands-on experience with VMware, SAN/NAS storage, disaster recovery, and patch/security management.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools and security practices including encryption, key management, and certificates.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and multitasking skills in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
