Senior Machine Learning Engineer @ Modulai
As a Senior ML Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building state-of-the-art ML systems — and shaping the direction of projects from day one. You’ll collaborate with clients, mentor peers, and lead the development of ML/AI-based solutions from ideation through deployment.
This is a hands-on role focused on solving real business problems using smart engineering. You’ll either own delivery end-to-end or grow as a technical expert in a specific area of machine learning.
While ML is our foundation, AI engineering — particularly agentic systems — is an increasingly important area of focus at Modulai.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end ML/AI project delivery (from ideation and discovery to deployment)
- Mentor and inspire peers within and across teams
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal stakeholders to define and execute solutions
- Perform data exploration, preprocessing, and feature engineering
- Develop and validate robust ML models for real-world use cases
- Design scalable data pipelines and infrastructure
- Contribute to Modulai’s internal knowledge base and strategic development

What We’re Looking For
- MSc or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience leading end-to-end ML projects/products
- Deep technical expertise in Python and modern ML/AI libraries (e.g.,
PyTorch/TensorFlow, Transformers, LangChain, LangGraph)
- Strong understanding of ML infrastructure: deployment, monitoring, debugging, optimization
- Experience with distributed data tools (e.g., Spark, Dask, PySpark, Apache Beam)
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentations)
- Collaborative mindset: humble, curious, and eager to learn and share
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineers and non-engineers alike
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with GenAI and agentic software development
- Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, ElasticSearch, Redis)
- CI/CD, Kubernetes, and MLOps tooling
- Background in consulting or client-facing environments
- Product experience from idea to MVP and monetization

Additional Details
- You must be eligible to work in Sweden (we do not currently offer visa sponsorship)
- Weekly presence at our Stockholm or Gothenburg office is expected
- We welcome applicants from across Europe, but relocation to Sweden is expected over time
