Ubiquiti Network Engineer

I'm looking for a cultural and technical fit for our next HostiFi team member

Cultural

• You're a huge Ubiquiti fan and are an active participant in the community forum, Facebook Groups, Reddit or the Discord
• You create Ubiquiti content for the community like blog posts, YouTube videos, GitHub code or are a contributor to ubntwiki
• You've attended Ubiquiti training, are a Ubiquiti trainer, or are certified by Ubiquiti
• You've either worked for Ubiquiti, an MSP that installs Ubiquiti equipment, or a WISP which uses Ubiquiti equipment
• You run UniFi, UISP, and other self-hosted Linux systems in your home network or cloud
• You use Slack, Teams, or Discord daily
• You've worked with a fully remote team before
• You prefer written communication over "jumping on a quick call"
• You frequently do IT projects outside of work
• You personally prefer MacBook and iPhone over Windows and Android
  
  

Technical

There are 3 technical areas we help our customers with regularly. You must be an expert in at least 1 area, and competent in the other 2.

• UniFi
  
  

Experienced configuring absolutely anything in UniFi - firewall rules, routing, WAN configurations, VPNs, VLANs, WiFi, WiFi optimization, WiFi planning. Are familiar with every UniFi product and why you might want to choose one over the other. Understand the nuances between UniFi products and their eco-systems including UniFi Protect, UniFi Talk, UniFi Access.

• UISP
  
  

Experience configuring PTP and PTMP connections. Has configured EdgeRouter and UISP firewalls with VPNs, routing, VLANs. Understands device adoption process for UISP and how it differs from UniFi adoption. Knowledge of RF fundamentals.

• Linux
  
  

Can fix UniFi and UISP server issues across various distros including Debian and Ubuntu. Able to perform fresh installs, parse logs for errors, update dependencies, configure off-site backups using rclone, get SSL certificates working.

Requirements

• Must be in the US, Canada, Mexico or somewhere near to the US
• Native English speaker
• High school education - not required
• College degree - not required
• Ubiquiti certifications - preferred
