What You Put In Is What You Get Out
This is not just cybersecurity policy. This is legal architecture for code-bound systems, token design, protocol integrity, cross-jurisdictional cyber law, and blockchain governance. You’ll be joining AU’s founding legal brain trust.
If you're not ready to think like an infrastructure strategist, this isn't your table.
Minimum commitment: 20 hours/week. If that’s too much—we fully understand. But this role isn’t for you right now.
This is a partner-tier opportunity:
- Equity-based compensation (vesting standard)
- Token-based rewards possible in future layers
- No salary until strategic milestone activation
- Async-native, fully remote, globally integrated
Overview
We’re recruiting a Deputy General Counsel – Cybersecurity & Blockchain to architect AU’s cross-border legal strategy for data sovereignty, protocol risk, token operations, and privacy-by-design compliance.
This isn’t about plugging policy gaps—this is about designing the legal OS for a global, tech-native enterprise with advanced runtime interfaces and layered creator tools.
You will work closely with the General Counsel, CTO, CISO (future), engineering teams, and AI leadership to embed enforceable legal structure into how our technology behaves and scales.
What You’ll Own
- Design and implement AU’s legal frameworks for cybersecurity compliance (Canada, U.S., and multi-jurisdictional)
- Build legal strategies around protocol governance, smart contract risk, and decentralized infrastructure
- Lead legal assessments of encryption methods, identity systems, token access control, and runtime logs
- Create compliance blueprints for SOC 2, ISO 27001, and Canadian/Federal cybersecurity regimes
- Advise on international privacy standards (GDPR, CPRA, PIPEDA) in the context of creator platforms and adaptive UIs
- Guide legal risk assessments on tokenized interactions, security audits, cyber insurance, and data exposure
- Draft agreements and constitutional docs for tech-native products: validator mechanics, DAO-like systems, or layered access control
- Coordinate with LegalOps, Product, and Treasury to lock security + legal alignment
What We’re Looking For
- 7–12+ years in cybersecurity law, blockchain regulation, or complex tech-based legal infrastructure
- Strong grounding in cross-border privacy, smart contract risk, cyber insurance, token governance, and platform data integrity
- Licensed to practice in Canada or the United States
- Experience with legal response to cyber incidents, protocol vulnerability, or blockchain forks is a plus
- Bonus: exposure to Web3 governance, DAO structuring, tokenomic legal scaffolding, or legal audit response
- Deep alignment with digital-first legal innovation—fewer policies, more systems
Compensation
Equity (Shares): Founding legal partner-level
Token-Based Rewards: Possible, pending structure
Future Salary: Based on milestone-driven revenue
Remote First: Fully async, cross-border legal execution
Our Promise
You won’t be writing disclaimers.
You’ll be writing the code of law that governs a universe.
You’ll architect the legal layer that protects a next-gen platform—not just in court, but in protocol.
If you’re a legal mind that understands how infrastructure thinks, this is your platform.
