Overview

As a result of continued growth, we have a new opportunity for a Back End Process Development Engineer to join the growing Pragmatic team in the North East of England. Reporting to the Back End Process Development Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in the success of the team, and therefore the wider business.

In this role, you will support the process development of Back End wafer and die processes, particularly die singulation and laser processing. You will contribute effectively to developing capable high-volume processing on new and existing equipment and enabling successful handover to Operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute significantly to Back End wafer process development.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members and cross functional teams, to enable a successful outcome on complex projects
  • Contribute to a positive culture of Health and Safety by demonstrating and encouraging safe working practices
  • Develop a competent level of understanding of test equipment (R2R tester, bend testing, functional and VNA testing), the processes, results; interpret the data to make informed decisions.
  • Support the process development on new and existing machines.
  • Assist in scoping out new equipment for high volume processing.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure delivery of suitable equipment and processes.
  • Collate results in a meaningful and professional manner, and communicate these effectively.
  • Use wide-ranging experience, and in-depth professional knowledge to develop, resolve complex models and procedures.
  • Take ownership of workload and be able to prioritise to ensure successful on time delivery.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement by suggesting improvements and challenging in a respectful manner.


Qualifications and training

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject would be preferable (or equivalent Engineering experience in Back End semiconductor processes)


Skills & Experience

  • Experience in developing back-end wafer processing, particularly die singulation and laser processing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate both internally and externally (e.g external suppliers)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and experience of analytical software such as JMP
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC); how to monitor and identify trends and violations and resolutions
  • Thorough knowledge of data analysis techniques, with the ability to interpret data and form valuable conclusions and recommendations
  • Highly competent reporting skills
  • Experience of devising and leading experiments, trials and DOEs
