Palo Alto Network Engineer

This a 100% remote position

Contract to Hire convert between 3-6 months to fulltime salary of $130-140k

Our client has a remote contract opening for a Palo Alto Network Engineer who has experience providing system security engineering services to ensure secure, reliable and uninterrupted availability of customer systems and networks.

Position Description:

• Network Engineer with extensive Linux background providing network and system engineering services to ensure secure reliable and uninterrupted availability of customer systems and internal networks in a Cloud Operations Center.
• Network and system engineering services must be compliant with FedRAMP / NIST 800-53 at the Moderate Risk Impact Level.
• Prospective candidates must have excellent technical skills utilizing tools and utilities to support maintain and configure Palo Alto NGFW in a Linux-based Cloud environment.
• Must be able to multi-task, work independently, but at the same time contribute and work effectively towards team objectives.
• All work is remote and excellent communication skills, teamwork, and deep technical understanding of IT systems are required

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide support for the overall network including Security rules and threat prevention/URL policies
• Perform infrastructure problem resolution and assist in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications
• Ensure network/firewall rules and policies comply with applicable security controls in accordance with NIST 800-53 Security Framework
• Provision new connectivity or services; including design, configuration, and implementation
• Work help desk tickets to troubleshoot and resolve requests, incidents, and outages
• Work within a formal change control procedure
• Implement and document change/improvement to the architecture as the business or technical requirements change
• Demonstrates broad experience and knowledge in application network/system architecture for complex Cloud environments
• Support Disaster Recovery and Incident Response testing/validation exercises.

Skills and Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience assessing and setting up protocols for Palo Alto firewall vulnerabilities, lock downs, and testing to mitigate potential risks/vulnerabilities
• Demonstrable experience:
• Implementing Security rules and threat prevention/URL policies
• VPN/Global Protect/S2S
• Panorama Management
• Palo Alto virtual firewalls (KVM VM-Series)
• Complying with Information Security requirements
• Understanding of network topology (ipv4, subnets, gateways, routing tables)
• Technical and analytical writing skills required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.

• Palo SDWan
• Prisma
• Demonstrated knowledge of security related activities involving system/network hardening, PENTEST, IDS, Identity Management, Virtualization (hypervisors, virtual machines, provisioning), Enterprise Backup/Recovery, DR/COOP, High Availability, DNS, LDAP, SSO, SSL, FTP, Web Services.

Education and Credentials:

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or equivalent
• PCNSA/CCNA or equivalent
• Some Cyber Security Certification (ex: Security+, CEH, etc.)
• Must be able to pass security background check.
