We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DB2 Data Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. This opportunity is open to:

✅ Houston-based developers (or USA-based developers open to relocating and working on-site in Houston).

✅ Mexico-based professionals looking to relocate to the USA with visa sponsorship.

The selected candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining database applications on the IBM iSeries (AS400) platform, ensuring high performance, efficiency, and modernization of existing systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain various database applications on the IBM iSeries platform.
• Utilize Dynamic SQL, Temporary and Temporal Tables for efficient data handling.
• Convert RPG code to SQL stored procedures and improve existing database structures.
• Implement Commitment Control, Procedures, Table Functions, UDFs, Logging, and Exception Handling.
• Optimize SQL stored procedures for performance tuning.
• Read and understand RPGIV, RPGLE, RPGFree programs, and Embedded SQL.
• Execute conversion and modernization of RPG code into SQL stored procedures on DB2.
• Work with IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, ACS for development and deployment.
• Develop applications interacting with front-end systems via REST APIs, JSON, and XML.

What We’re Looking For:

• Expert-level SQL stored procedures development experience on DB2 for IBM iSeries (AS400).
• Strong ability to read, understand, and convert RPGIV, RPGLE, RPGFree into SQL stored procedures.
• Experience in modernizing legacy RPG applications into SQL-based DB2 solutions.
• Hands-on experience with IBM tools (Aldon, RDI, ACS) for development and deployment.
• Solid understanding of database performance tuning, logging, and exception handling.
• Experience integrating database applications with front-end systems using REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Nice to have: Exposure to Python, Microservices, and VS Code IDE development.
