Systems Engineer: Postgres & Rust at Scale (Remote, EST/CDT)

Our client, a leading innovator in cloud database technology, seeks a Systems Engineer passionate about Postgres, Rust, and building high-performance, scalable systems. Join their team to tackle complex challenges in a rapidly evolving cloud environment.

Your Role:

• Optimize and scale a distributed Postgres-based database service.
• Contribute to low-level systems development, with opportunities to leverage Rust.
• Address challenges related to database performance, reliability, and operational automation.
• Drive improvements in monitoring, release processes, and operational efficiency.
• Work on the interface between Postgres and the underlying system architecture.

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience, with a focus on database or distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Postgres or similar database technologies.
• Experience with Rust is highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in cloud/service operations (deployments, monitoring, alerting, on-call).
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize large-scale production Postgres environments.
• Passion for building robust, scalable, and automated systems.
• Experience improving operational processes.
