Director of Product Design

This role is fully remote - you can work from anywhere, provided you do not need a visa. The preferred regions for this role are Europe or South East Asia (due to favourable time zone overlap).

My client is a leading Mobile App with a global user base. With a remote-first team of 250 people, they have scaled significantly since their launch nearly a decade ago.

Their consumer facing app is loved by millions (around 50m) worldwide, and their B2B offering has now grown to nearly match the revenue from the consumer side.

They are looking for a Director of Product Design with a UI focus who will help them scale the app, with a strong focus on visual storytelling, engagement-driven design, branding and app flow design. This role would join as the most senior position in the Design org and would lead, mentor, and grow the entire Product Design team (currently <10 people across both B2B and B2C).

Responsibilities:

• Lead the entire Product Design (and team) with specific focus on the visual design direction for the mobile app, ensuring a polished, engaging, and habit-forming user experience.
• Create and refine UI components, motion design, and interaction patterns that enhance engagement and re-engagement.
• Collaborate with UX, research, and product teams to turn insights into visually compelling, high-impact design solutions.

Requirements:

• Around 12 years' + expeiernce in Product Design with proven experience in UI/visual design for mobile-first, engagement-driven apps (e.g., learning, fitness, dating, fintech).
• Strong portfolio showcasing mobile UI work, including motion design, gamification elements, and habit-building UI.
• Expert in Figma, Sketch, and UI animation tools (Lottie, After Effects) with a deep understanding of mobile design systems.
• Previous experience hiring and managing product designers (ideally 3+ years)
• Start up background is a must - with a preference for work experience in companies which have gone through significant scale whilst you've been working there, or with user base at least 20m, or founding your own company (consumer & mobile app)
