Key Responsibilities
- Network Design & Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance network infrastructures to support company needs across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor network performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot problems to ensure the network operates efficiently with minimal downtime.
- Security Management: Implement and enforce network security protocols, ensuring the network is protected against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Network Optimization: Continuously analyze and optimize network performance, including bandwidth usage, latency, and availability to ensure the network can handle increasing demands.
- Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with systems administrators, cloud engineers, and DevOps teams to align network infrastructure with other IT systems and processes.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation on network configurations, policies, procedures, and performance metrics to ensure consistency and continuity.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Respond promptly to network-related incidents, investigating root causes and resolving issues to minimize disruptions.
- Network Upgrades & Maintenance: Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal network performance and security.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with network hardware and service vendors, ensuring the best solutions are in place for company requirements.
- Experience: 6 to 12 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, including managing complex networks in enterprise environments.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF) and technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN).
- Security Expertise: Experience implementing network security policies, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and secure access controls.
- Network Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark, PRTG) for proactive network performance management.
- Cloud Network Integration: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and understanding of cloud networking principles (VPCs, Direct Connect, Peering).
- Scripting: Proficiency in network automation and scripting tools such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate network management tasks.
- Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex network issues, identify root causes, and resolve problems effectively.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, CompTIA Network+, or other equivalent networking certifications are preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Network Virtualization: Experience with network virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware NSX, Cisco ACI).
- SD-WAN Experience: Knowledge and hands-on experience with Software-Defined WAN solutions to improve network flexibility and scalability.
- Cloud Network Security: Experience with cloud network security best practices and tools, including cloud firewalls and security groups.
