Telecom Security Penetration Tester – Remote (B2B/Freelance)

My client, a leader in telecom security, is looking for a Telecom Security Penetration Tester to join their elite team. This is a fully remote opportunity available on a B2B or freelance basis, offering a chance to work on cutting-edge security challenges in mobile and telecom networks.

About the Role

As a Telecom Security Penetration Tester, you will play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating vulnerabilities in mobile and telecom infrastructures, including 5G, OpenRAN, Network Slicing, Edge Computing, and legacy 2G/3G/4G networks. You will conduct red team audits, develop proof-of-concept exploits, and contribute to innovative security solutions that protect global telecom operators and critical communications networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct red team audits remotely for international clients.
• Identify and exploit vulnerabilities in operation and maintenance, signaling, and user plane interfaces.
• Develop proof-of-concept exploits to demonstrate security risks.
• Deliver detailed security reports and propose mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to enhance security products based on real-world findings.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong experience in penetration testing for Linux environments and web applications.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Deep understanding of Linux system architecture, from userspace processes to kernel modules.
• Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and network analysis skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise reports.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as OSCP, CEH, PNPT are a plus.
• Experience with mobile network security (vendors, operators, billing, charging).
• Knowledge of Linux tracing, dynamic analysis tools, and network-based fuzzers.
• Experience with publicly disclosed vulnerabilities.

Specialized Skills (Preferred but Not Mandatory)

• Telecom Security & Protocols: SS7, SIGTRAN, LTE, IMS, UMTS, CDMA, GPRS.
• Cloud & Virtualization: OpenStack, Kubernetes, NFV(i).
• Security & Penetration Testing: VoLTE, VoWiFi, GTP, Diameter, IoT Security, S1AP, X2AP, NGAP, PFCP, 5GC SBI.
