Job Description

Are you ready to tackle the challenges of securing and optimizing infrastructure at a scale few companies ever reach? We're working with one of Germany’s leading email and cloud service providers—a platform trusted by over 43 million active users. Their infrastructure handles billions of logins per day, hundreds of petabytes of storage, and nearly half an exabyte of internet traffic annually.

This is your chance to join a team pushing the boundaries of observability, intrusion detection, and data exfiltration prevention in a modern, highly available, and load-intensive environment.

About the Role:

As a Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge technologies for network security, observability, intrusion prevention, and firewalls.
  • Work hands-on with Linux systems, containerized architectures like Kubernetes, and network protocols such as DNS, HTTP, and TLS.
  • Automate processes and create innovative solutions using modern programming languages like Go or Python.
  • Collaborate with a skilled team to ensure the security, scalability, and availability of infrastructure serving millions.

Important Note:

While experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is welcome, this role is not focused on cloud-based infrastructure. If your primary interest is working on public cloud platforms, this may not be the right fit. Instead, we’re seeking candidates who are passionate about working directly on large-scale, on-premises systems and networks.

What You’ll Bring:

We don’t expect you to have every skill, but experience in some of the following would make you a great fit:

  • Linux systems expertise and familiarity with IP networking, including L3 routing, NAT, and DNS.
  • Passion for network security and tools for intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Experience with automation frameworks and principles of Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, Git, and collaborative software development practices.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm for working in an agile environment.

Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have):

  • Knowledge of VXLAN, BGP, or advanced routing protocols.
  • Experience in data exfiltration prevention or egress monitoring.

Why Join?

  • A permanent role offering hybrid flexibility at either office (Munich OR Karlsruhe). Ideally, a minimum 3 days a week in the office
  • 30 days holiday
  • Work with state-of-the-art technologies at a scale that’s both challenging and exciting.
  • Collaborate with a friendly, inclusive team in a company that values growth, innovation, and quality.
  • Relocation support, if required
