Senior Frontend Engineer | Defence AI | React | Next.js | £180,000 | Hybrid (3 days a week in London)

Wave Talent has partnered with a company that recently secured $487M in Series-C funding and is now in an exciting hyper-growth phase. This defence AI company are on the search for a Senior Frontend Engineer. The company’s mission is to protect democracies by using AI to give nations the technological leadership needed for sovereign decision-making.

In this role, you will take ownership of the user interface from start to finish, collaborating with product designers and engineers to deliver top-tier usability across multiple internal teams and products. This role will involve building reusable tooling and component libraries and managing frontend architecture and build pipelines. The company operates in a domain where technical robustness and safety are paramount, and the role requires a deep understanding of front-end technologies, with a bias towards impactful, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the frontend development, owning the UI from conception to production.
• Collaborate with UX and product teams to manage visual design.
• Create and maintain a reusable component library.
• Set up and manage build and deployment pipelines.
• Work with unfamiliar backends to make small changes where necessary.
• Optimize the frontend for performance and usability.

Requirements:

• Must have strong TypeScript/JavaScript experience, especially with React.
• Proficiency with SSR frameworks such as SSR.
• Familiarity with modern JS bundlers (Vite).
• Experience with utility-class styling libraries like TailwindCSS.
• Exposure to languages like Python or Rust is a plus.
