Context
PrecisionLab, led by Prof. Jose Garcia-Tirado, aims to develop new technology for managing diabetes and metabolic disorders through novel digital interventions such as advanced decision-support tools and automated insulin delivery.
Job purpose
We are looking for an experienced Android full-stack developer to work primarily on our Android application and connected backend services, the platform we use to support research and conduct clinical trials. The app is central to research efforts, interfacing a number of different medical devices with our own solutions, chiefly decision-making algorithms for insulin injection.
The role is initially contracted for 6 months, either fully remote or hybrid (in Switzerland).
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with postdoctoral researchers, medical doctors, and other software developers to achieve novel, clinically relevant solutions in the healthcare field.
- Help design, develop, modernize, and maintain software projects related to these solutions, namely an Android application and Kotlin (Ktor) backend.
- Contribute with your expertise and industry knowledge, sharing new ideas and helping shape the development team's development strategies and processes.
Requirements
A Must:
- 5+ years of experience working with native mobile development and a good understanding of the Android platform, its libraries, and design patterns.
- 3+ years of experience working with backend development.
- Ample experience working as a freelance developer or in consultancy roles.
- Experience with Java and Kotlin (including Coroutines).
- Experience with Ktor or similar backend frameworks (such as Spring).
- Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL and SQLite).
Nice to have:
- Experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience working with Bluetooth and related Android libraries.
- Experience working with medical devices (CGMs, insulin pumps).
