Overview
Within the Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting group, the primary function of Risk Data & Insights (RD&I) is Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting. Risk data is comprised of exposure data across all lines of business, plus all the associated risk properties and reporting attributes.
To perform its core function, RD&I must first undertake the complex subordinate function of bringing all of the risk data together and performing its certification value stream, which includes:
- Data sourcing
- Rigorous daily monitoring
- Data quality analysis
- Proactive data integrity detection
- Reconciliation, validation, and correction of errors
- Imposition/reinforcement of business rules
- Application of retroactive adjustments
- Manual repair of system integration failures
- Consolidation across all product lines
- Harmonization of consolidated data
- Ownership, maintenance, and governance of risk properties
- Controlled joining to reference data
- Certification, publication, audit, and provision of support
- Standardized, customized, and ad hoc reporting.
The Senior Associate Risk Data Analyst in Risk Data & Insights requires experience working with large and complex datasets, sourcing and joining data from various sources/databases. Additionally, they require the ability to assess data quality while both recommending and implementing changes to improve it.
Discipline Summary
- Executes and develops complex procedures in function of a large-scale information infrastructure;
- Is involved in the post-assessment reporting as well as the aggregation of potential risks for the organization, facilitating priority setting as well as improving decision-making;
- Executes and improves data certification procedures;
- Produces and shares risk data across the organization to support risk-informed decision making and inform business strategy;
- Communicates information regarding business risks with functions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Extensively monitors and governs the risk properties associated with EDC’s transactional data as subject matter expert;
- Produces operational and ad-hoc reporting for the target audience of EDC management in Risk Quantification, Enterprise Risk Management, Accounting, Internal Audit, the Risk Management Committee, and for submission to Corporate Plan and annual Financial Statements;
- Investigates and resolves discrepancies with critical risk data and reports;
- Researches and implements improvements to data certification procedures, tools and reports;
- Participates in various data governance initiatives and supports the implementation of governance methodologies;
- Performs analytics and assist in the creation of reports and dashboards;
- Assists in the review of critical risk reports.
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related relevant discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience of data analysis, business intelligence, data quality and governance or related experience.
- Experience with advanced MS Excel
- Experience with VBA
- Experience with SQL
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance / Quality Control Methodologies
Assets
- Bilingual in both official languages (English & French)
- Experience with Denodo
- Experience with Power BI
- Experience with Python
- Knowledge of business analysis and risk management principles and practices
Compensation Details:
- Data & Analytics 15: Salaries typically range from $62,336 to $83,116 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive
Location
- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
