Job Overview

The position of Lead Engineer is an integral part of the Alauda Aeronautics engineering team. The primary function of this role is to oversee the design and development of the new Mk4 crewed vehicle. You will have the responsibility to sign off on engineering design and must have a good understanding of the vehicle from a holistic point of view. You will collaborate with the team and work closely with the Program Manager to deliver on program milestones in an innovative and safe manner.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver and validate the chassis/airframe of the new Mk4 crewed vehicle
  • Collaborate and give input to all engineering disciplines for the delivery of the Mk4
  • Work closely with the Program manager to ensure milestones and gates are achieved
  • Supervise and work with engineers; supporting, developing and nurturing talent
  • Collaborate with technical partners and suppliers


Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Aviation or a safety critical industry
  • Proven experience in developing an aircraft/vehicle from a holistic view
  • Hands-on technical experience with design and development, simulation, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of aircraft. 
  • Good grasp of CAE practices
  • Authority to sign off on designs and testing validation
  • Comfortable understanding and giving input in various engineering disciplines; Software & Controls, Aerostructures, Powertrain, Simulation etc.
  • Experience in aerospace or safety critical process and controls such as; Configuration Management, Maintenance Management, Systems Engineering, Aviation Reporting Systems, etc.


Desirable:

  • Master in relevant Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering
  • eVTOL experience
  • Automotive experience or exposure
  • Experience at the level of Principal Engineer
  • Start up experience
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance (SESA) methodologies
  • Has worked in a CASA Subpart 21.J or 21.M organisation (or local equivalent)
