Job Description
DGI is a progressive, high-tech R&D company based in Caerphilly, Wales, developing ultra-high-performance motors and drives, electric vehicle systems and software. The team is looking for its new full-time Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for design and drafting of components and assemblies for manufacture of prototypes
- Identification and sourcing of necessary components
- Working with a wide range of materials including all common engineering metals and polymers, machined and 3D-printed parts
- Liaising with key suppliers
- Assembling and testing prototypes
- Concept generation, presentation and documentation
- Test and validation procedure writing and implementation
Qualifications
- BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Currently (or within the last year) working as a Mechanical Design Engineer in a relevant field
- Extensive relevant, hands-on, industry experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
- SolidWorks 3D modelling, 2D drawing & simulation proficiency
- Experience of high-speed rotating assemblies (motors, engines, turbines etc)
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and design best practices
- Part design and drafting, geometric tolerancing, BoM generation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques and the associated tolerances
- Able to take a design from a specification through concept, detail design, to a fully functional and tested prototype
