A CMDB configuration manager is responsible for maintaining and updating the configuration management database (CMDB) that contains information about the assets, services, and dependencies of an organization's IT infrastructure. The CMDB configuration manager ensures that the CMDB is accurate, complete, and consistent, and that it supports the IT service management (ITSM) processes and goals. He is responsible for good relations with stakeholders and facilitate them where possible.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the definition of and adherence to the (logical) CMDB and CSDM data model (in cooperation with the CSDM and CMDB Stewards)
• Establishing and maintaining the Configuration Management plan
• Accountable for determining and documenting ServiceNow specific principles (i.e. Authorization and Naming Conventions)
• Establish and enforce the policies, processes and standards for configuration management and CMDB usage (process owner)
• Accountable for the adherence to regulations, security & privacy policies & the defined target model (aka quality) incl. the LCM processes to manage CI data
• Analyze and report on the CMDB data quality, performance, and compliance for executives
• Facilitates and manages CMDB Audits by providing the relevant data to the relevant audit stakeholders
• Drive new initiatives to improve the overall data quality
• Advises teams and help them use the CMDB correctly
• The Config manager is the SPOC for the Business related to CMDB demands and to the ServiceNow Platform owner
  
  

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of ITSM best practices and frameworks, such as ITIL, COBIT, or ISO/IEC 20000
• Proficient in using and administering CMDB tools and platforms, such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or IBM Tivoli
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to adapt to changing business and IT needs
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Certification in ITSM or CMDB is a plus
