Security Engineer - Security & Cloud Operations - FinTech Scale up (Global impact) - Cloud Native - Solid comp/equity - Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Job Description
Its cloud platform operates in a highly regulated FinTech environment, supporting business-critical money flows across international markets. Security is therefore fundamental to the product, not simply a compliance requirement. Within the company, your team is welcomed and supported by everyone!
The role
We are looking for an operationally focused Security Engineer with experience in cloud security, monitoring and incident response. You will monitor production environments, investigate alerts and take the first response steps during security incidents. You should be able to work independently, assess potential impact and recognise when escalation or additional expertise is required.
Your broader scope includes SIEM, threat modelling, vulnerability management, IAM, risk assessments, third-party security and AI/data governance. You will work closely with experienced security specialists, compliance and the teams responsible for building and operating the platform.
This is not a software development or Application Security role. You will not build production software, but you should understand cloud architecture well enough to identify risks and provide practical security advice.
What you’ll do
- Monitor cloud and production environments and investigate security alerts.
- Build and tune SIEM detection rules, dashboards and alerts.
- Assess risks across cloud IAM, networking and infrastructure.
- Manage vulnerabilities and help teams prioritise remediation.
- Run access reviews and improve least-privilege controls.
- Contribute to threat modelling and advise on secure architectural decisions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and act as a first responder during incidents.
- Translate regulatory requirements into effective technical controls.
- Support risk assessments, penetration tests and third-party security reviews.
- Contribute to AI security and data-governance practices.
- Use Python, Bash or similar languages to automate operational security tasks.
- Strengthen security culture through practical guidance and collaboration.
