Job Description
We’re partnering with a leading global technology-driven trading firm to hire an experienced Data Center Infrastructure Engineer for its Amsterdam-based technology team.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a highly sophisticated, performance-critical environment where physical infrastructure is fundamental to the business. You’ll take ownership of data center infrastructure spanning multiple locations and thousands of servers, working across deployments, capacity, connectivity, hardware and operational improvements.
If you enjoy being close to the hardware, taking ownership of infrastructure projects from start to finish, and working in an environment where reliability, precision and performance really matter, this could be an excellent next step.
What you'll be doing
You’ll help maintain, expand and continuously improve large-scale data center and colocation environments, combining hands-on engineering with project ownership.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing, cabling and deploying servers, switches and network appliances across data centers and colocation facilities
- Coordinating server and network equipment installations with remote hands teams across different locations
- Managing rack space, power allocation and capacity planning
- Maintaining high standards of structured cable management
- Troubleshooting fiber and copper connectivity using cable testing equipment
- Performing hardware break-fix work and replacing components including drives, memory and transceivers
- Planning and executing data center build-outs, relocations, expansions and new hardware deployments
- Managing equipment logistics and inventory across regional colocation sites
- Maintaining accurate infrastructure documentation and helping standardize operational procedures
- Supporting system builds, configuration and troubleshooting
- Contributing to core office infrastructure, including highly performance-sensitive production environments
- Leading or contributing to infrastructure projects from initial planning through to implementation
