Artificial Intelligence Engineer

We are looking for an Expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to work from our offices in Frascati, Italy.

You will join a multidisciplinary team supporting mainly the VIPER project which aims at developing a modular and expandable generic AI-based image processing chain, in the frame of development activities for ASI. The VIPER project will initially focus on developing an “on-ground” and an “on-board” processing chain for both use cases:

• Analysis and processing of telescope acquisitions in the Near-Earth Object (NEO) field.
• Analysis and processing of optical satellite acquisitions for identifying illegal landfills.

This position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99 (“Rules for the right to work of disabled people”).

Tasks and Activities

The scope of work will include:

• Contributing to the design and development of AI based applications.
• Developing and integrating vision based and predictive systems algorithms.
• Preparing data for ML and AI applications.
• Supporting the implementation, configuration and usage of AI and ML technology stacks.
• Performing a range of tasks across the lifecycles of future and operational programmes in support of our client’s in contributing to:
• Analysis of AI architectures and applications for specific tasks.
• Development of AI prototypes to rapidly assess new ideas.
• Preparation of training dataset.

Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

• University degree in Computer Science, or a technical field that provides similar competences.
• A minimum of two years of experience in applying AI and Machine Learning for the creation of applications.
• Demonstrable experience in applying AI techniques in computer vision (e.g., CNN and GAN architectures) and for events / data prediction (e.g., RNN).
• Good understanding of AI technology stacks and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
• Familiarity with software development processes.
• Fluency in Italian and English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

• Demonstrable experience in High Throughput Computing, High Performance Computing, Cloud Computing stack, Big Data or other distributed computing technologies.
• Knowledge of ECSS, Space standards.
• Knowledge of Exploitation Platform programme.
