We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Architect to lead the architecture, design, governance and delivery of complex enterprise network solutions across on-premises and data centre environments.
About the Role
The Senior Network Architect will provide technical leadership across enterprise network architecture and solution design. You will work with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, cybersecurity teams, infrastructure engineers, project teams and operations to translate business requirements into practical, secure and scalable network solutions.
The role covers enterprise LAN/WAN, routing and switching, data centre networking, firewalls, network security, connectivity, load balancing, automation, observability, resilience and disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business and technical requirements and develop appropriate network architecture solutions.
- Lead end-to-end network architecture and solution design activities.
- Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), solution architectures, technical standards and reference designs.
- Design and govern enterprise LAN/WAN, data centre, routing, switching and connectivity solutions.
- Develop scalable, resilient and highly available network architectures.
- Design network security solutions incorporating Zero Trust, segmentation, NAC, firewalls, secure remote access, DDoS protection and PKI.
- Provide architecture leadership across Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, MPLS, VPN, hybrid connectivity and Internet services.
- Design and govern data centre technologies including Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, EVPN/VXLAN and spine-leaf architectures.
- Design enterprise firewall and security-zone architectures across platforms such as Cisco and Juniper.
- Design load-balancing solutions, including F5, LSLB, GSLB, traffic management and disaster recovery.
- Promote network automation, Infrastructure as Code, API-driven management and automated testing.
- Define monitoring, logging and observability requirements using platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus and Splunk.
- Incorporate high availability, redundancy, failover, business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
- Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments and technical governance activities.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and opportunities for modernisation, simplification and cost optimisation.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers and project teams.
- Support implementation, transition to operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to network strategy, technology roadmaps and enterprise architecture standards.

Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in enterprise network architecture and solution design.
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, data centre networking, routing, switching and network security.
- Experience designing high-availability, resilient and scalable network environments.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, routing protocols, spine-leaf architectures and network redundancy.
- Experience with MPLS, VPN, site-to-site connectivity, remote access, Internet and hybrid connectivity.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust, network segmentation, NAC, firewall architecture, DDoS protection, PKI and secure remote access.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper or comparable enterprise firewall and networking platforms.
- Experience with Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, EVPN/VXLAN and data centre fabric architectures.
- Experience with F5 load balancing, including LSLB, GSLB and application traffic management.
- Knowledge of network automation, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps practices and API-driven network management.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, alerting and observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus and Splunk.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, failover design and elimination of single points of failure.
- Excellent technical documentation, stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills.
