Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a WebOps WordPress Developer based in the United States.

This is a fully remote opportunity focused on keeping a large portfolio of WordPress websites stable, secure, fast, and reliable.

You’ll serve as a hands-on technical troubleshooter, diagnosing complex issues across hosting, plugins, integrations, and performance systems.

The role combines WebOps, WordPress development, debugging, and preventative maintenance in a fast-moving digital environment.

You’ll investigate issues from the application layer through infrastructure, including DNS, CDN, caching, security, and email delivery.

Beyond resolving incidents, you’ll proactively identify risks and implement fixes that improve website reliability and performance.

You’ll also make targeted feature updates within custom WordPress themes, ACF templates, Gutenberg environments, and page builders.

Success in this role requires strong ownership, technical curiosity, and the ability to communicate solutions clearly across teams.

Accountabilities

  • Diagnose and resolve WordPress issues including outages, slow load times, timeouts, server errors, plugin conflicts, PHP errors, broken forms, email delivery failures, and performance problems.
  • Investigate root causes across hosting environments, DNS, domains, SSL, CDN, caching layers, and security or firewall configurations.
  • Review and interpret system and application logs to quickly identify technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Perform routine WordPress maintenance, updates, testing, and quality assurance while minimizing operational risk.
  • Proactively identify potential issues related to plugin updates, security vulnerabilities, configuration changes, and performance degradation.
  • Implement smaller feature enhancements and technical fixes within custom PHP/ACF templates, Gutenberg-based themes, and page-builder environments.
  • Take ownership of technical issues from initial identification through resolution, documenting root causes, corrective actions, and preventative recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and escalate complex issues to deeper engineering resources when required.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on WordPress development experience, ideally gained in an agency or multi-site environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across PHP errors, WordPress plugins, front-end issues, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Proven ability to read logs and investigate technical problems end-to-end rather than addressing only symptoms.
  • Experience with WP Engine or comparable WordPress hosting platforms, as well as DNS, domains, SSL, CDN, and caching technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting website outages, server errors, SMTP and email delivery issues, and performance optimization tools such as NitroPack.
  • Familiarity with ACF-based custom themes, Gutenberg environments, Gravity Forms, and page-builder platforms.
  • Strong understanding of WordPress fundamentals, including hooks, filters, themes, plugins, and common WordPress architecture patterns.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with strong ownership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues, fixes, and preventative measures to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Compensation of up to $3,000 USD per month.
  • Fully remote working environment.
  • Flexible paid time off (PTO).
  • Opportunity to work with a growing, collaborative, and innovation-focused team.
  • Hands-on exposure to a broad portfolio of WordPress websites, hosting environments, integrations, and performance technologies.
  • Opportunity to deepen expertise across WebOps, WordPress infrastructure, troubleshooting, security, and performance optimization.
