Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, approachable and solutions-focused? Do you thrive in a role where you can build trusted relationships, solve people challenges and make a tangible difference to the employee experience?
We’re looking for an HR Adviser to support one of our newly acquired Operations & Maintenance contracts, providing a responsive, commercially minded HR service to around 300 employees across 20 locations throughout the UK.
Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you’ll work closely with managers and key stakeholders across the contract, providing practical advice, coaching and support throughout the employee lifecycle.
This is a varied role with plenty of opportunity to make an impact. You’ll be trusted to advise on a broad range of HR matters, support managers through complex situations, and help shape how HR is delivered as the contract continues to grow.
This role is based in our Manchester City Centre offices.
What You’ll Be Doing

- Manage and support key stages of the employee lifecycle, from offer letters, contracts and pre-employment checks through to onboarding and offboarding.
- Help ensure employees have a positive, well-organised experience from joining through to leaving the organisation.
- Provide responsive and practical support to employees and managers on a wide range of HR queries.
Partnering With Managers
- Provide high-quality HR advice and guidance, helping managers navigate challenging, complex and sensitive employee relations matters.
- Coach managers on the effective application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Help managers make fair, consistent and well-informed decisions, aligned with current and emerging employment legislation and local arrangements.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with line managers and stakeholders, understanding their priorities and providing proactive, commercially focused HR support.
Employee Relations
- Support managers with complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence matters.
- Provide advice on policy, process and legislation throughout formal cases.
- Support investigations, hearings and other formal employee relations processes, helping managers approach sensitive situations confidently and effectively.
- Encourage early intervention and practical solutions to employee relations challenges.
Payroll, Reward & Benefits
- Prepare accurate monthly payroll submissions for the contract.
- Work closely with the Payroll Team to support a smooth, efficient and accurate payroll process.
- Support associated reward and benefits activity, ensuring employees and managers receive the right level of support.

Supporting Our People
- Support visa processes for new and existing employees, ensuring requirements are managed effectively and efficiently.
- Work closely with managers to improve sickness absence management and support employees through their return to work.
- Help managers take a proactive approach to attendance and wellbeing, contributing to sustainable improvements in absence levels.
HR Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and systems.
- Produce timely and meaningful HR information and reporting to support decision-making.
- Contribute to Board reporting, attrition and sickness absence reporting, and quarterly Group Meeting presentations.
- Take on other reasonable duties appropriate to the level of the role, supporting the evolving priorities and needs of the organisation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- CIPD qualification (Minimum Level 3 with Level 5 advantageous)
- Previous experience in an HR Adviser role.
- Experience supporting with Employee Relation Case
- Sound understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HR systems.
- Experience of TUPE would be advantageous
