Director of IT/AI - Manufacturing

My highly desirable manufacturing client desires an experienced Director of IT/AI for their Cedar Rapids, Iowa area location.

This is a full time position that offers a competitive salary, performance bonus and outstanding benefits. Relocation assistance provided! This is an on-site role! No remote or hybrid!

The Director of Information Technology will lead technology as a strategic business capability, not a support function.

The Director of IT will be responsible for:

• Driving an enterprise-wide AI strategy with real operational and financial impact
• Helping shape and execute XL’s 5-year business strategy
• Enabling scale, speed, data-driven decision-making, and margin improvement across the company

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO and leadership team to define and execute a 5-year technology and data roadmap aligned with business strategy.

ERP & Core Systems Ownership

• Leverage ERP data to improve visibility, decision-making, and execution across the organization.
• Lead system enhancements, integrations, and process standardization efforts.
• Experience with Aptean’s Made2Manage ERP is a strong plus, but not mandatory if the candidate has deep ERP leadership experience and can ramp quickly.

Cybersecurity, Infrastructure & Risk

• Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of all IT infrastructure.
• Own cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and incident response planning

Required Experience

• 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, ideally in manufacturing or complex, engineered-to-order environments.
• BA Degree; Advanced degree is a plus
• Strong ERP leadership experience (Aptean Made2Manage experience a plus).
• Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain, and financial systems.
• Executive-level communication skills—can speak to operators, engineers, and the board.
