ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We're hiring a Creative Director to own the creative performance of a fast-growing Amazon private-label portfolio. This is a marketplace-creative leadership role: main images, A+ Content, Brand Story modules, packaging, product inserts, Amazon Storefront design, lifestyle imagery, infographics, and advertising creative — the assets that win the click and close the sale on Amazon, TikTok Shop, and Shopify.
You'll lead and direct two full-time designers and partner with a branding consultant — but you won't be the one designing. Your job is to hold a high creative bar, direct the work with pointed feedback, and turn a talented-but-slow-moving team into a fluid creative engine that ships on time.
If you think in terms of Amazon listing conversion — main-image CTR, listing CVR, mobile-first PDP layout, above-the-fold storytelling, organic share — if you've owned Amazon creative for a real private-label brand, and if you're already fluent in AI-augmented design workflows, keep reading.
THE ROLE
- As Creative Director, you'll own the performance of the design department. You report directly to the CEO and lead two full-time designers, with a branding consultant as a dotted-line partner.
- The role is purely directive — running 1:1s, giving creative feedback, holding the quality bar, and driving deadlines. You'll partner closely with brand management to translate listing performance gaps into creative briefs, and work with product R&D on launch creative for new introductions.
- The biggest gap on the team today is operational push — talented people, but projects drift. Your first 90 days are about taking that problem off our plate so the CEO can step out of creative reviews entirely until final approval.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- Creative Leadership & Quality Bar
- Own the design department — lead 1:1s with each designer, become their primary point of contact, and drive every active project to completion.
- Hold a high creative standard on every Amazon deliverable — main images, A+ Content, Brand Story, packaging, inserts, Storefront, lifestyle, and infographics — by giving pointed, specific feedback, not generic critique.
- Become the creative quality gate that replaces upper management. By 90 days, leadership involvement should drop to final approval only.
- Audit the full creative scope in your first 30 days, identify the top gaps, and ship a prioritized improvement plan.

Amazon & Marketplace Creative Direction
- Direct listing creative that converts — main images built for mobile-first CTR, A+ Content and Brand Story that lift CVR, infographics that answer buyer objections above the fold.
- Translate performance data into briefs — partner with brand management to turn CTR, CVR, and organic-share gaps into specific creative briefs that fix the underlying issue, not just refresh the look.
- Direct product photography and lifestyle imagery — set the shot list and art direction so studio and lifestyle assets support the listing narrative.
- Extend the brand across channels — direct TikTok Shop creative and Shopify product imagery for the channel-expansion roadmap, keeping brand identity consistent with the branding consultant.
- Own launch creative with product R&D — packaging, main images, and A+ for new product introductions.
AI-Augmented Creative Operations
- Direct the team's AI image workflow — tool selection, prompt construction, and quality control across Midjourney, Nano Banana / Gemini Image, FLUX, or comparable tools.
- Use the in-house AI image pipeline and creative priority tab to proactively find and fix underperforming creative.
- Research and integrate the latest AI-design developments into the team's workflow — treat AI as leverage that expands capacity, not a threat. Headcount grows slowly because AI substantially expands output, and we want a leader who runs toward that.
Creative Operations & Delivery
- Fix problems once — when the same issue appears twice, build the durable process change that prevents the third occurrence, instead of weekly triage.
- Ship measurable process improvements within 60 days — lead-time targets, revision-count targets, brief quality, and review cadence.
- Hit and maintain the creative KPIs — on-time delivery and low revision counts on every active project.
- Run the in-house Design workspace (project boards, daily audits, briefs, creative priority tab) as your operating system — and improve the parts that aren't working.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Required Experience
- 5–10 years in ecommerce / brand creative, with at least 2 years managing other designers. This is not a first-management role.
- Hands-on Amazon private-label creative ownership — main images, A+ Content, packaging — for at least one $10M+/year private-label brand.
- Proven marketplace creative fluency — you can look at an Amazon main image and articulate why it will win or lose CTR, not just whether it's pretty.
- Conversion-rate mindset — you understand how listing creative drives CTR, CVR, and organic share, and you brief against those metrics.
- A track record of on-time delivery with low revision counts — references on this are essential.
- Expert in the core creative stack — Photoshop and Illustrator, plus active use of AI image tools. Fluent in ClickUp and Slack from day one (no ramp-up on the basics).
- Active AI fluency in your daily workflow — comfort with ChatGPT, Claude, and Midjourney (or comparable AI image tools), and a history of integrating AI into a design team.
- Cross-functional partnership with brand or marketing — not just receiving briefs, but co-creating them from listing performance data.

Preferred Experience
- Premium bedding / home textiles or home-goods CPG creative (Decolure, Sleephoria, Bamboo Reserve, CooLinens, or comparable).
- TikTok Shop and DTC Shopify creative for the channel-expansion roadmap.
- Named expertise with AI image tools — Midjourney, Nano Banana / Gemini Image, FLUX — including prompt engineering.
- Working knowledge of Claude specifically — our internal stack is heavily Claude-based (skills, agents, dashboards).
- Experience inside an AI-agent-augmented organization with custom internal dashboards and audits.
- Figma for collaboration is a plus — but this is a marketplace-creative role, not an interface-design role.
YOU ARE NOT A FIT IF
- This is an Amazon private-label creative leadership role. It is not a UX/UI, web, app, SaaS, or product-design position. Please don't apply if:
- Your background is primarily UX/UI, product design, or web/app interface design — screens, flows, and design systems rather than marketplace creative.
- You've led design at a SaaS or software company but have never owned Amazon listing creative, A+ Content, or packaging.
- Your portfolio is websites, dashboards, and mobile apps rather than main images, A+ modules, lifestyle imagery, and packaging.
- You think of "conversion" only in terms of landing-page CRO, and can't speak to Amazon main-image CTR or listing CVR.
- You want a hands-on individual-contributor design seat — this role directs the work, it doesn't execute it.
WHO YOU ARE
- A driver, not a curator. You push projects forward instead of letting them drift. You've felt the frustration of careful leadership that ships nothing — and you don't want to be that person.
- A systems thinker who fixes problems once. When you see the same issue twice, you build the durable solution that prevents the third occurrence.
- A craft eye with strong opinions. You're the creative expert in the room, fluent enough in Amazon and ecommerce design to give pointed feedback and push back on weak work — not just "looks good" or "try again."
- Eager to learn, not threatened. You don't need to walk in knowing our brands or stack, but you're hungry to ramp on AI tools, internal systems, and category nuance. AI is core leverage here.
- A clear writer. Most coordination is async via Slack and in-app tools. You can write a brief a designer can execute without a meeting.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Fully remote position — work from anywhere with strong English fluency and overlap with US working hours
- Direct access to the CEO via weekly 1:1s and ad-hoc syncs
- An agent-augmented operations stack — AI-powered internal agents, custom dashboards, and in-house tooling that lets you focus on direction instead of admin
- Ownership of a design department where the systems improvements you build actually stick
- Opportunities for growth as the company expands into new channels and categories
- A team that values durable systems, data-backed decisions, and pushing creative work forward
