A high-growth startup is hiring a senior backend engineer to help build the infrastructure behind a product that helps people navigate one of the most complex and high-stakes processes there is. They're a lean team moving fast, with strong early traction and a mission that actually matters to the people using it

They're based across San Francisco and New York, backed by strong investors, and scaling their engineering team off the back of real product-market fit

What You'll Do

• Design and build backend systems and data models that hold up as the product and team scale
• Work directly with non-technical teammates to translate complex, real-world processes into clean technical systems
• Own backend services end-to-end, from design through deployment
• Partner cross-functionally to make sure what gets built actually solves the right problem
• Bring strong data modeling instincts to a domain where getting the structure right really matters

The Team

A tight, high-velocity group that values clear thinkers and clear communicators just as much as strong engineers. This is a role where you'll spend real time working with people who aren't technical, so being able to explain your thinking clearly matters as much as the code itself

What They're Looking For

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong Python and data modeling skills
• Startup or founding engineer experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders
• A genuine interest in the mission, not just the tech stack

$200K-$250K base salary plus:
